Interior Home Design Predictions for 2017

Follow home décor trends that are expected to be seen throughout the New Year.

While we were celebrating the New Year just a few days ago, trend forecasters and designers have already been thinking about 2017. A big shake up of interior trends is predicted. If you’re thinking of revamping your home for the new year or getting it ready to go on the market, look out for the following trends to include for 2017!

What’s out:

Cork

Cork is making a comeback. As a sustainable and stylish alternative to leather, suede, and canvas, as well as adding warmth and absorbing noise in homes, cork is ideal to add into your home now. Cork can be used as a coffee table top, solid cork stool, or even as an accent wall. Now is the time to dig out that old cork board and put it to good use.

Dark Green

Varying shades of dark green will become the new must-have interior color. Once we say goodbye to navy and midnight blues, forest and emerald green are set to appear in more homes. Dark green walls are ideal for creating a wintery hideaway, whereas a feature sofa or décor in green can add depth to any room.

Jewel Tones

Get ready for the future – metallic metals, raw-cut quartz, and opal are set to come back into style. These raw and harsh tones pair perfectly with airy silk material, sheer fabrics, and transparent décor. Can someone say opposites attract? Blended together in the same room embodies optimism and positivity for the coming year.

What’s in:

Copper

As a material, copper will always be beautiful and in style in some form. However, we’ll move away from the shiny imitation copper in early 2017, and come the summer, there will be little of this polished material in style.

Marble

Marble homewares took the nation by storm in 2016. Even though they were all the rage, we can soon expect a sharp decline in interest as we move towards more raw, earthy textures like timber, clay, and wicker.
